Dr. Catherine is a Board-certified Biochemistry Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS). She earned her M.S. in Microbiology and Public Health and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Michigan State University. Subsequently, she completed an NRSA postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and embarked on a career in teaching and research at Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
She has vast experience in editing biomedical, social science, and scientific theses and dissertations, journal manuscripts and literature reviews, book chapters and books, poster and PowerPoint presentations, and contracts and grant proposals. She often works with ELS authors, and says that she is “continually amazed at the creativity of the scientific community.”
As a professional writer and biochemistry editor (2004-present), Dr. Catherine has written local, state, federal, and foundation grant proposals on topics in food security, anorexia, diabetes, neurology, obesity, and public health, among others. Clients have included individuals and groups employed by colleges, universities, medical centers, and foundations across the United States. Additionally, she has taught undergraduate and graduate level biochemistry and molecular biology (1992-2009) and performed research in nutrition, diabetes, neurology, obesity, and public health at Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center.
