Biomedical Engineering grant writer Dr. Sean H. has over a decade of experience in groundbreaking biomedical research and innovation, assisting multiple companies in creating the ideal story to shift their technologies from concept to clinic. He has published over 25 scientific papers in high impact journals, holds several patents related to biomaterials and biotechnology, and has participated in numerous poster and oral presentations for national conferences. Dr. Sean H. holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. During his research experience, he developed novel polymeric biomaterials for medical applications ranging from tissue engineered nanofibrous scaffolds to hemocompatible device coatings. His dissertation focused on the development of nitric oxide releasing polymeric coatings and how through tailored, controlled drug release, the foreign body response to implantable devices can be mitigated or even eliminated, potentially improving a patient’s quality of life significantly. Dr. Sean H. also has extensive experience related to chemical and material characterization techniques (NMR, FTIR, LCMS, AFM, ICP-MS), immunohistochemistry, and microscopy techniques (SEM, TEM).

Acting as the PI for personally written and awarded Phase I and Phase II grants at the NIH and CDC, he was the co-founder and Principal R&D Engineer of a biotechnology company focused on combatting antibiotic resistant bacteria and adapting commercially available medical device technology to become more biocompatible. Leveraging his knowledge of what federal reviewers want to see when funding startup research, he continues his grant writing career with ScienceDocs to bring company’s innovative technologies to market.
