Dr. Chin — Foundation, Academic and SBIR Grant Writer, PhD in Chemistry

SBIR Grant Writer Dr. Chin completed her Ph.D. in chemistry at Boston University under a highly interdisciplinary research environment. Her research background is in polymer chemistry, biochemistry, biomaterials, polymer synthesis, and translational research. During her graduate studies, she was recognized for her leadership, outreach, and research accomplishments where she was the recipient of the Feldman Award and a Laursen Research Scholarship. Dr. Chin has published a number of manuscripts in peer-review journals (including in JACS), is the co-inventor on several patents, and presented at local and national conferences. 

Dr. Chin is a co-founder of a start-up company focused on commercializing medical device coatings. Through her start-up career, Dr. Chin has secured a number of SBIR and matching grants and was recognized through a number of awards including the Startup Worcester 2017 Awardee, the Female Founder Fellow through the Capital Network, and Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Worcester Chamber of Commerce).

Between her academic and professional careers, she has over 8+ years in grant and fellowship writing and has successfully secured over $7.5 M in funding. Dr. Chin has worked on grants and fellowships for the NSF, NIH, DOE, DOD, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Phase (GEC), SBIR Phase I and Il, as well as other funding agencies. Dr. Chin has experience working on Commercialization Plans as well. 

Dr. Chin also holds an HBX credential through Harvard Business School covering business analytics, economics, and financial accounting and also is a board member on two 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations focused on promoting women and minorities in STEM fields and has experience in preparing grants for non-profit organizations.
