Dr. Julie – CME Writer with focused expertise in Pharmacology and Ophthalmology
Dr. Julie holds BS (Zoology) and MS (Natural Science) degrees from Oklahoma State University. She graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas with a PhD in pharmacology. Her PhD dissertation focused on an in vitro model of diabetic complications. Dr. Julie worked at an ophthalmic pharmaceutical company for over 20 years as a bench scientist, senior medical writer, and publications manager. She holds both Core and Advanced certifications with the American Medical Writers Association. She has written or managed over 1000 medical communications (abstracts, posters, slide presentations, trade journal articles, peer-reviewed manuscripts, needs assessments, sales training, and continuing medical education materials). Dr. Julie’s expertise spans a number of different therapeutic topics including allergy, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology, diabetes, and emergency medicine.
Specifically within ophthalmology, Dr. Julie has worked in the areas of age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, angiogenesis, cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma, dry eye, contact lens care, and allergy. These writing efforts have involved both drugs and devices.
Within the realm of CME, Dr. Julie has prepared needs assessments, slides, and materials for websites. These activities have included the generation of educational objectives as well as review questions.
