Dr. Henley – Grant and CSR Writer, PhD in Pharmacology

Grant and CSR Writer Dr. Henley received his Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from Louisiana State University School of Graduate Studies, LSU School of Medicine-Shreveport followed by postdoctoral training in Biochemistry at the University of Michigan.  Dr. Henley has subsequently focused on the use of science and technology to establish a successful career in drug discovery, research, medical and scientific writing that includes over 15 years in the Biotechnology-Pharmaceutical industry (Thousand Oaks, CA) and 10 years of experience in academic research at Baylor College of Medicine where he was involved with grant writing and establishment of an academic, independent research program with Federal (NIH) and other funding. 

He is now focused as a medical writer, predominantly a grant and CSR writer as well as a consultant for clients in the pharmaceutical-biotechnology industry.  Experiences include project management and medical writing support for CSRs, grant applications, clinical and preclinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, PowerPoint presentations, Pre-investigational new drug (Pre-IND) applications, Type B meeting materials (Briefing Book) and meeting request (rare disease), FDA Pre-Request for Designation (for a device), and a Comment Resolution Document: Questions for the FDA. He has also worked with the Health Economics (Payer Value Communications) group on safety pharmacology and efficacy documentation for executive summaries, evidence tables, and study report dossiers (marketed small molecule, protein, and biosimilar therapeutics) using clinical study reports (CSRs), INDs, and manuscripts as data sources for development of Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) dossiers and Global Value Documents (GVDs).

As a PhD biochemical pharmacologist, he has experience in small and large molecule drug discovery research and has worked closely with clinical research and development teams while serving as a Research Project Team Leader, Global Development and Global Publication Planning Team representative.  With direct knowledge of the Biotech/Pharma culture, demands and expectations, Dr. Henley is eager to provide project management and medical writing support that will advance therapeutic drugs and research initiatives through all stages of development (early discovery to clinic).
