Dr. James is a Ph.D.-trained scientist and engineer with over a decade of experience in medical device research, biomedical engineering, and scientific writing. He specializes in providing grant writing, medical writing, and consulting services to help clients from the medical device, biotechnology, and academic arenas secure funding from NIH, DoD/CDMRP, NSF, and other agencies to support their research and commercialization goals. Dr. James has contributed to numerous federally funded programs, including SBIR/STTR and academic proposals.

Experience. On top of his primary expertise in medical device and SBIR/federal grant writing, Dr. James has broad experience across engineering and the life sciences. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, where he conducted orthopedic and biomedical bioengineering research and contributed to numerous federally funded programs. He has authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and 60 conference abstracts, and he serves as a reviewer on military and federal research grant panels, including the Military Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC).
