Ms. Jones is an ATA certified English<>German Translator and has specialized for over 7 years in clinical research, clinical psychology and internal medicine, mainly cardiology, nephrology, and oncology. Recent projects include the translation of two textbooks for an international publishing company, published in July 2017, which encompass the basic science and clinical conditions of the cardiovascular and the renal systems. Other common projects include journal articles, clinical trials, medical records, and patient information.
Ms. Jones worked in clinical practice and social services as a nurse, instructor, social worker and public health consultant for over 13 years before becoming a medical translator and editor. She holds a degree in social educational theory and social work from the University of Applied Sciences, Berlin. Her thesis was published as a book and added to the University´s extensive library. Ms. Jones also holds a state accreditation in nursing and a teaching certificate for German as a second language from the Goethe Institut. She is currently enrolled in a Master´s program for Translation studies through the University of Portsmouth. Recently she completed a certificate in the Design and Interpretation of Clinical Trials from John Hopkins University. Her secondary interest as a translator is literary translation.
A resident of Oregon for 2 years, Ms. Jones spends several months every year in her native Germany, where she actively participates in conferences, book fairs and translators´ meetings. She is a member of the American Translators Association, the Oregon Society of Translators and Interpreters, and the Association of German-speaking Translators (VdUe, Germany).
