Ms. Peterson worked to obtain government grants and cooperative agreements (10’s of millions) and private investor funding (10’s of millions) for conducting research that led to product commercialization, her company merging with a Pfizer subsidiary, and contracts with multiple biotech companies (100s of millions). Before starting her own company in 2017, she managed projects in pharmaceutical, private, start-up, non-profit, and government areas. Her background includes human and animal studies (preclinical development plans, clinical trials), novel drug (cancer, non-opioid pain therapies, diabetes, neurodegeneration, viral, bacterial, others), biomarker, medical device, and military sensor discovery, prototyping, patenting, and development through regulatory approvals and sales.
Ms. Peterson previously worked for the Federal government (she has a program officer (PO) certification from HHS/NIH, CDC) and non-profits (The American Cancer Society, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center), and was instrumental in the acquisition/merger of a start-up pharmaceutical company where she was COO, grant writer, director of R&D and FDA liaison (Los Alamos National Laboratory spin-off, Caldera Pharmaceuticals and Icagen). She performed the proposal, report, patent, and submission writing in order to obtain funding that allowed the company to be successful. Much of this work was funded via the SBIR/STTR program and several Federal agencies; she offers expertise with NIH, DOD, NSF, DOE, USDA, CDMRP, TATRC, private, and non-profit proposal and grant management systems, budgets, and audits. Lori’s work resulted in products that are offered to customers including Pfizer, Bayer, Roche, Nalco, and others. She is lead inventor on five patents and co-inventor on seven additional patents.
