Dr. Maret – Scientific and Medical Editor and Writer, PhD in Neurology

Medical Editor and Writer Dr. Maret has 20 years of experience in academia and has studied a broad range of scientific disciplines. Her early scientific training was in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, and in molecular biology. She earned her master’s degree in Biochemistry from Queen’s University (Kingston, Ontario). Her thesis focused on the role of mRNA transcript stability in the modulation of a gene expressing a novel molecular link between coagulation and fibrinolysis. Dr. Maret earned her doctorate degree in Neurology and Neurosurgery with a focus on neuro-oncology from McGill University (Montréal, Canada). Her PhD thesis focused on the molecular mechanisms of tumor cell invasion and metastasis based on loss of adhesion. Her work identified a novel mechanism for tumor progression, invasion and metastasis and led to several publications in Neoplasia. Following her PhD, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University. In addition to her PhD, she also completed the courses required towards a degree in medicine and has a good understanding of the pathophysiology of human disease. She is well-versed in scientific as well as medical terminology.

Dr. Maret has experience writing and editing major grant applications (basic research grants as well as clinical research grants), as well as manuscripts and theses in preparation for publication. She also has experience writing and editing systematic reviews and meta-analyses, clinical trial documents (investigator’s brochure, informed consent form, manual of procedures (MOP), case report forms (CRF), standard operating procedures (SOPs)), drug formularies and medication guides.

Dr. Maret also has a keen interest in sharing her love for science with school-aged children. As such, she participates in the preparation of educational material in the form of powerpoint presentations and participates in Brain Awareness Week.
