Dr. Riad — Neuroscience Writer
Dr. Riad is a neuroscientist writer with over 7 years of experience in neuroscience research and scientific communication. She received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez. She was the recipient of three Valedictorian Awards and an NSF fellowship from the Northeast Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (NEAGEP). Dr. Riad obtained her Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Behavior from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She published her doctoral research in a first-author peer-reviewed journal publication.
Throughout her scientific career, Dr. Riad has conducted both neuroscience and clinical research. Her dissertation work identified and characterized behavioral, anatomical, cellular, and genetic deficits associated with heavy alcohol consumption during development. In addition, Dr. Riad previously worked at the Florida Mental Health Institute of the University of South Florida. There, she developed an epidemiological research project to analyze alcohol consumption patterns amongst Hispanic adolescents in the United States. Dr. Riad’s research has been communicated by media outlets and has been presented at national scientific conferences.
Dr. Riad has expertise in writing, editing, and proofreading scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, presentations, lay summaries, and laboratory protocols. These experiences honed her skills in writing, editing, and communicating science, providing her the ability to understand complex research and communicate it clearly to both general and specialized audiences. She is also fluent in both English and Spanish languages.
