SBIR grant Writer Dr. Cobb is a Ph.D.-trained scientist with nearly 20 years of experience in academic medicine, biotech, and medical writing. She has significant experience in endocrinology, oncology, cardiology, psychology, neurology and neuroscience, and intracellular signaling. She received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from The Babraham Institute, University of Cambridge, UK. During a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Cobb focused on intracellular signaling and therapeutic intervention in diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and prostate cancer. After finishing her fellowship, Dr. Cobb joined the Faculty of the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology, Mattel Children’s Hospital, UCLA, where she continued her research into diabetes and cancer. She also made discoveries that led to the formation of a start-up biotechnology company; she left UCLA to serve as co-founder and Director of Research for the company. 

For the past 6 years, Dr. Cobb has worked as a full-time medical grant writer and English as a second language (ESL) editor for clients in academia and industry. Her work includes the writing and editing of scientific manuscripts and reviews, data analysis and figure presentation, the preparation of research grants (including but not limited to NIH/BARDA and NSF SBIR, R01, P01, and R34, DoD, and private foundations), and CME needs assessments.
