NSF SBIR Grant Writer Ms. Cindy specializes in helping startups, entrepreneurs, and established small businesses prepare and submit R&D grant applications, especially for the SBIR/STTR programs offered by federal agencies such as the USDA, NSF, EPA, and DOE. Cindy also has prepared grant applications for the California Energy Commission, earning over $4 million in funding for commercialization of a novel large battery, and for DOE’s Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) programs. In her 8 years’ experience in this effort, she has helped clients in a wide variety of innovative industries including energy storage; alternative fuel vehicles; nanocellulose-based product development; kelp, oyster, and mussel aquaculture and product development; small- to mid-sized farm support; low-head hydropower innovations; and dewatering technology development.

In addition to R&D funding opportunities, Cindy has also secured funding for state energy planning from DOE, small business incubator and startup support assistance from the federal Small Business Administration (SBA) and Economic Development Administration (EDA), and cluster initiative projects to grow specific business sectors, such as cleantech and the new space economy.

As a NSF SBIR Grant Writer, Cindy is able to help clients with all aspects of the application process, including project planning and strategizing; developing SOWs, schedules, and budgets; writing both technical narratives and commercialization plans; securing support and commitment letters; organizing the overall application; and online submittal through agency portals.

She honed these skills in a variety of scientific and engineering disciplines while working with multidiscipline teams to investigate the nature and extent of waste site contamination; assess its impact on surrounding populations, ecosystems, and resources; and navigate regulatory processes.

She holds an undergraduate BS in Soil Science from the University of Maine and a MS in Hazardous Materials Management from Tufts University.
