Dr. Hawley earned her PhD in Developmental Psychobiology in a Biobehavioral Sciences Graduate Degree Program. Her original research on pediatric sleep disorders and maternal postpartum sleep has been NIH-funded and published in top tier journals specializing in sleep medicine, sleep research, child development, postpartum health, obstetrics and gynecology, among others. Dr. Hawley has contributed extensive professional service through her ongoing role as an ad hoc reviewer, editorial board member, associate editor, and special issue editor for top journals in her field of expertise. She peer reviews, on average, 50 journal submissions each year. Dr. Hawley has also had the privilege of editing the written projects of her doctoral students who have gone on to splendid careers. Although she is not fluent in a language other than English, Dr. Hawley has tremendous respect for her colleagues who are non-native English writers and who must publish in English language journals. One of the highlights of her career has been her sabbatical time abroad in non-English countries.
