Dr. Amy S : Social and Health Psychology, Consumer Research, and SBIR Grant Consultant
SBIR Grant Consultant Dr. Amy received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from UCLA with an emphasis on motivation, cognition, and health behaviors. She was successfully awarded a NIH-NRSA grant and American Psychological Association (APA) Dissertation grant while in graduate school for her work on approach and avoidance motivation and the promotion of healthy behaviors. She was an intern at the RAND Corporation and went on to a NIH funded postdoctoral position at the USC Keck School of Medicine studying the effect of media on risky adolescent behavior. She has authored 20+ journal articles and book chapters, 30+ poster and conference presentations, and has been an ad hoc reviewer for many journals in the fields of social psychology and adolescent health. Her journal articles have received multiple awards such as the Harold H. Kelley Best Research Paper Award and the International Association for Relationship Research Best Paper Award.
In the 20 years since her postdoctoral position, SBIR Grant Consultant Dr. Amy has worked on efficacy research and consumer insights in various fields, including public health, fashion, automotive, education technology, and dating services. While working for two of these companies, she wrote and prepared successful SBIR grants along with two additional research grants totaling $2MM. As a consumer researcher, she conducted qualitative and quantitative studies to measure market and customer response, concept testing, product usability, and product efficacy. Many of these projects included survey and assessment development, experimental or longitudinal designs, and content analysis. Dr. Amy also has experience in demographic and psychographic segmentation and profiling and has authored a patent on the use of psychographic data for targeted advertising.
