Dr. Erik is a highly experienced and very successful SBIR grant writer, with eleven grants totaling >$21 million being selected for funding, including NIH SBIR Phase I, II, I/II Fast-Track, and IIB awards. His success rate is currently >70%. Dr. Erik regularly serves as a reviewer for the NIH SBIR/STTR program as well as for the Business Oregon Phase 0/00 SBIR/STTR application support program. He has strong expertise in biologics drug development, from early preclinical to phase 1 first-in-human studies, particularly in the cardiovascular space. He is also an active investor with Angel Oregon, and participates as a grant preparation BioMentor for the Oregon Translational Research and Development Institute. Dr. Erik completed his B.S. at the University of Oregon and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University. He is a successful biotech entrepreneur and has authored >30 scientific publications. Dr. Erik has also received several prestigious scientific and business awards for his work, including a Young Investigator Award from the International Society on Thrombosis & Haemostasis, a T32 National Research Service Award from the NIH, was a finalist for the inaugural Oregon Entrepreneurs Network Wyatt Starnes Memorial Award, and was one of the Portland Business Journal’s Forty under 40 class of 2015.
