Mr. Serrano – English <> Spanish Translator
Mr. Serrano is a native speaker of both Spanish and English. He has been a professional English<> Spanish translator for nine years and his experience includes medical/pharmaceutical and technical translation.
His in-house medical translating experience includes two and a half years as a staff translator and interpreter at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, from 2010 to 2013. Here, his responsibilities included translating pathology and imaging reports and medical records from Spanish into English and informed consent documents for clinical trials from English into Spanish. He also performed on-site and telephone interpreting.
Prior to moving back to the US and working with ScienceDocs, Mr. Serrano held an in-house translator position at a major retail company in Ecuador (translated sales and other reports, and interpreted during board meetings and meetings with the VPs) and performed long-term contract work for the Israeli contactless chip-based solution provider, SuperCom, which is currently implementing the new nationwide eID and ePassport in Ecuador (translated project-related documentation, technical manuals, and legal documentation.)
Mr. Serrano’s academic background and other work experience includes a BS degree in biological sciences/aquaculture and experience working with shrimp and tilapia production in Ecuador, as well as a diploma in health services management and several years of experience managing a 30-bed surgical hospital (in Guayaquil, Ecuador). He also has experience teaching ESL and biology and ecology at the college level.
